WALL ANALYSIS: MASONRY VENEER on STUD WALL
This structure is a wood stud building with a masonry veneer. Taking some quick measurements reveals that the wall is 10-1/2 thick and has a standard brick veneer, which allowed me to make some basic assumptions about the wall composition. Accounting for construction with 2 x 4 studs and a veneer that has 3-1/2 inch thick bricks, I was able to make assumptions about the thickness of the insulation, gypsum board, exterior sheathing, and air spaces based on the remaining wall thickness and the standard composition of this type of wall. This also allowed me to speculate how the wall connects to the foundation and the roof structure. Using a wall section I also calculated the approximate R-value of the walls of this building.
