Prague, Czech Republic
Prague for me was less about visiting specific architectural monuments and more about experiencing the general feeling of the streets. The John Lennon Wall piqued my interest not only due to its colorful aesthetic, but the history behind it. Towards the end of Czechoslovakia's communist regime, young minds would write their opinions of the regime and leave art and messages of hope on this wall. After the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, the wall remained covered in art and inspirational quotes, a motivator of sorts towards an ideal world of peace, much as John Lennon stood for.
With no particular destination in mind, I spent my days there wandering the streets observing the Czech Gothic architecture in the town center, as well as the later Renaissance structures that lined the winding streets. There was a beautiful rhythm to all of the ornamentation and the cornices that had a tendency to carry along from building to building down entire blocks.
